Dyson vacuum cleaners’ latest ad touts the fact that their “digital motor” (what the hell is a “digital” motor?) spins faster than the engine in an F-1 race car.

So what?

RPM is not the only factor in determining a motor’s power. Put Dyson’s motor in an F-1 race car, and the car isn’t going to move an inch. Hook an F-1 engine to a Dyson vacuum cleaner and you’ll be picking up the pieces (of the vacuum).

Not that it’s anything new. Dyson’s ads have always annoyed me.

I remember a couple years back when their big ad point was that their machines created suction 100 times the force of gravity. I’m not really sure what to say about that, other than I seriously doubt it.
